Open SBI Account Online Using SBI Online Portal
Step 1: To open an SBI online account first of all visit the official website of SBI https://www.onlinesbi.com/.
Step 2: Select Apply for SB/ Current Account > Saving Bank Account > for Resident Individuals > Small SB account
Step 3: After the 6th point, click on “Start Now”, and select “Fill Customer Information System”

Step 4: Fill in your personal details like name, address, PAN, KYC documents and Aadhaar
Step 5: Click on “Proceed” after making a selection by filling in all the mandatory fields.
Step 6: After this, a Short Customer Reference Number (SCRN) will be generated which you will have to note down. You need to use the SCRN later to add the customer to the account opening form
Step 7: Next, you need to be taken to the “Account Information Section”.
Step 8: Here, first of all, you need to enter the SCRN, Mobile Number, and Branch Code (use branch locator to find the branch where you want to open the account)
Step 9: Further, fill in the additional mode of operation and select add-ons like e-statement, mobile banking, credit card, ATM/debit card, etc.
Step 10: Also, make sure that you add the nomination by selecting “I/We wish to nominate the person as per the details given below in this account in Form DA-1”.
Step 11: Click on “Proceed”
Step 12: After filling it you can come back to step 3 and select “Print Account Opening Form”.
Step 13: Enter your SARN, and date of birth and click on proceed to download your form
Step 14: Once downloaded, you need to take a printout using A4 paper
Step 15: Next, take the printout taken along with your two recent photographs and documents (mentioned below) and visit the nearest branch
Step 16: Once your documents are verified and approved, your SBI Savings Bank account will be activated in 3 to 5 days.
How to Open SBI Savings Account Offline
To open a savings account in any SBI branch, you need to follow the steps mentioned below:
Step 1: Make sure that you carry with you identification proof (preferably your PAN Card), address proof (preferably your Aadhaar card), and two passport-size photographs.
Step 2: After reaching the branch, ask the clerk if you want to open a savings account. The clerk will give you the application form.
Step 3: Fill out the savings account application form with the required details and attach the photographs on the form where required.
Step 4: After duly filling the form and signing it, submit the savings account application form along with necessary documents and required money (in case of minimum balance account) to the clerk.
Step 5: Your account will be functioning within a week or so, and the bank will inform you about it through a call/SMS/email.
